an alloy is the combination of distinct elements that creates an aggregate stronger than the sum of its parts. We believe collaboration is the key to every successful project and enjoy working with our clients to see their vision through. We also engage with structural engineers, general contractors, surveyors, arborists, landscape architects, geotechnical engineers, and building permit reviewers as each project requires. With each new opportunity we aim to create architecture that meets the goals of our clients, inspires creativity, and promotes a more sustainable built environment.

Mark Haizlip

B.S. Architecture '01 - University of Virginia
MArch '05 - University of Washington

Born and raised in the Pacific NW, Mark has long been interested in the built environment, the natural environment, and the relationship between the two. These early interests took him to the University of Virginia where he received his undergraduate degree in Architecture. Following graduation Mark worked as a field engineer in Washington DC before moving back to Seattle, where he worked on his Masters degree in architecture at the University of Washington. Shortly before graduating, Mark joined Pb Elemental, where he worked for five years on single-family and multi-family housing projects (both speculative and custom).

In 2009 Mark formed alloy design group, starting with a new single family residence in Seattle, WA. He has been collaborating with clients ever since, with the aim to produce work that positively influences our environment, both natural and built. Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his friends and family, and exploring the great outdoors.

Dermot Head Shot

Drafter / Associate
Certified Electricians License (UK) ’03
AAS: Architectural Engineering Drafting ’15 – NSCC Seattle

Dermot was born and raised in Ireland, a land rich in history and one that he found inspiration from at an early age. It was in his hometown of Dublin where he discovered his love for building and architecture, citing the many historical castles, ancient ruins, and cathedrals as his inspiration. After successfully completing an electrician apprenticeship, Dermot worked in the electrical industry for many years, focusing mainly on single family homes and residential remodels. He also worked with a local building contractor to help oversee construction of single family residences, remodels, and retail developments. Dermot then decided to transition away from construction and pursued an education in architectural and engineering drafting. Following completion of his program in 2015 he joined alloy design group, where he now enjoys the challenge of applying his construction and drafting experience into the overall design and completion of projects.

Outside of work, Dermot is a proud father who enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He continues to explore and draw inspiration from the buildings and structures around him, both new and old.

Gina Bianchi

Born and raised in Southern California, Gina has worked in Accounting for the past 28+ years supporting both small businesses and large corporations.  Her love of data and numbers started as a young child tracking baseball statistics for the LA Dodgers for fun.  She has a passion for tech and efficient processes and loves combining that with bookkeeping and accounting to help small businesses succeed.

When she is not crunching numbers, organizing processes and workflows or analyzing data, she loves to spend time with her friends and family. Her 5-year old granddaughter is the highlight of most days and says, "It is very true, there is nothing greater than being a grandma (or Gump as she calls me)." She loves living in the PNW, which has been her home for the past 16 years – she feels most alive and calm when she's near mountains and water.
